In Windows 2000/XP/Vista:

  1. Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt
  2. At the prompt, type:
ipconfig /all 

and the ENTER key

  1. Find the Physical Address line under the Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection (also known as LAN)
  2. Copy the combination of numbers and letters (similar to this one: 00-0D-CB-46-C3-D6 )
  3. Note if this is a laptop or desktop computer
  4. Send it to lifeguard@tauex.tau.ac.il with your full name, room number and ID (Teudat Zehut)
  5. We'll get back to you with a reply within a few hours.

In Macintosh OS X.4 (Tiger) or OS X.5 (Leopard) :

  1. Apple menu > System Preferences > Network >
    1. On OSX.4 (Tiger): Select Built-in Ethernet > Configure button > Ethernet
    2. On OSX.5 (Leopard): Click on Built-in Ethernet on the left and click Advanced > Click on the Ethernet tab that appears on the right
  2. Copy the Ethernet ID
  3. Note if this is a laptop or desktop computer
  4. Send it to lifeguard@tauex.tau.ac.il with your full name, room number and ID (Teudat Zehut)
  5. We'll get back to you with a reply within a few hours.
