CSN7

CSN7 is the 2nd to smallest subunit. It is structurally essential for the CSN (1) (2). Detected both in the CSN, smaller complexes and monmers (3) (4). Detected both in the nucleus and cytoplasm (5). CSN7 his a PCI domain and was the 1st subunit to be crystalized. (6)

Mutants in CSN7 were originally known as fus5 (7). Several fus5 alleles were characterized, all leading to a null phenotype. Like all null mutants in the CSN, fus5 mutants have a cop phenotype and are seedling lethal.
